İmplants
This is the process of eliminating tooth deficiency by placing artificial roots within the jaw bone. Today, this is successfully applied routinely.
Not having to cut healthy teeth in order to make bridges, the fact that it enables fixed dentures in cases ending toothless and that it increases the adhesion of dentures in toothless mouths are important advantages of implants.
The selection of the appropriate patient, the general health condition of the individual to whom implant shall be applied and the existence of sufficient bone support is the most important factors that affect success.
In which cases can it be applied?
- In one or more tooth deficiencies, where the neighbouring teeth are healthy,
- At the end of the jaw, where there are more than one teeth deficiencies, as a support tooth; as the foot of a bridge,
- In cases where the holding of mobile dentures (in total toothlessness) is not sufficient,
- In order to make a fixed denture instead of a mobile denture
Implants, as other dentistry treatments is applied via local anesthesia. After a waiting period of 3-4 months, the teeth, called the superstructure, are placed over the implants.
The rate of rejection of the implant is around 5-10%.
To whom can implant be applied?
It can easily be applied to any individual, whose general health condition is suitable and who has a sufficiently high bone amount.
Cases where the implementation of implant is not possible;
- Having an allergic structure
- Some heart diseases
- Blood clotting problems
- Rheumatic diseases
- Diabetic (blood sugar) patients; in cases that are not under control and the diabetes does not progress regularly
- The fact that bone structure in the jaw is inappropriate, insufficient or anatomically risky.
- The fact that the financial condition of the patient is not good (as his is an expensive process and it has a rejection ratio of 5-10%)
- In cases where the patient will not be able to ensure the oral hygiene (cleaning the mouth) after the implant. |
